Research and Development:

Our research teams work in the Dominican Republic and with our partners to conduct research on the following topics:

  • Development of varieties of criollo cacao with excellent flavor and enhanced antioxidant profiles.
  • Development of varieties of cacao with increased levels of epicatechin and catechin.
  • Development of varieties of cacao with enhanced lipd profiles and in particular with high levels of omega 2 fatty acids.
  • Development of highly efficient propagation systems for cacao optimized for production of criollo cacao varieties
  • Development of methods for commercial scale purification of valuable phytochemicals from cacao seed.
  • Development of product concepts for applications of cacao phytochemicals in the skincare, medical and nutritional supplement marketplaces.
